Summary:
Walsall RFC is a community based private members (500+) organisation that promotes and encourages participation in team based sports through rugby football. Currently the club have 3 senior teams and this is supported by the Mini & Junior sections which run from Under 6 through to Colts (U18). The club also have 3 girls teams at U13, U15 & U18.
As a key member of our club hospitality team our Bar Steward must ensure the bar operates smoothly with sufficient stock and staff at all times. The ideal candidate must thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment, maintaining a courteous demeanour and professional appearance with members and visitors, as well as making use of quieter times to help to maintain the cleanliness of the club to a high standard
Strong leadership, teamwork and personnel management skills should be accompanied by a customer service focus and a commitment to uphold club values, tradition and image. The Bar Steward will pay close attention to all operational details to ensure the comfort, safety and enjoyment of guests, job satisfaction of staff as well as the financial success of the club.
The bar is the financial lifeline of the whole club and the role of Bar Steward is vital to the clubs continued success and plans for growth.
Principal Aims:
To provide a high level of service and overall customer satisfaction to club members and guests.
Managing the Bar efficiently and effectively.
Promote a friendly atmosphere within the Club and amongst staff and volunteers.
Role:
The role is multi-facetted and some key requirements are as follows;
- To operate and manage the Club Bar in a proficient and timely manner in line with the club opening hours
- Manage all transactions and bar takings accurately and securely and report back weekly via Weekly Cash Statement. Forwarded to Club Administrator
- Identify, induct and train bar staff
- Identify, induct and train volunteer bar staff from club membership
- Manage all ordering of bar stock
- To be on site to check & manage all deliveries of bar stock
- Where appropriate introduce new lines, promotions and opportunities to improve takings.
- Bi-Monthly Stock Takes with appointed stock takers
- Bi-Monthly meetings with brewery representative
- Manage the use of Club Membership Cards effectively.
- Comfortable in challenging existing methods and approaches
- Take responsibility for club security (Alarms/Locks)
- Set Up of Club for internal meetings and external users
- Maintain a strong and effective working relationship with the Club Administrator.
- Manage in conjunction with the Club Administrator and Chairman of Fundraising a diary of events and bookings.
- Bar, Bar Kitchen, Store and Cellar to be maintained as required by EHO.
- Manage the opening of the facilities for use of the AGP by outside parties
- Frequent checking of toilet facilities for cleanliness during trading times.
General Requirements
The following are more general requirements of the role.
- To promote The Club within the area and to liaise with and gain prior approval from WRFC Chair of Entertainments in relation to any suggested events.
- To maximise the potential of the bar / clubhouse as a venue for external events.
- Must be willing to attend relevant training courses as and when required and also be in possession of all relevant necessary current certification ie. Personal License, First Aid and Manual Handling certificates.
- DBS check through the RFU.
- Computer literate and able to operate on social media platforms.
